Nuclear modular: a technological and industrial paradigm

The second half of the 20th century saw a major boom in the nuclear industry. Although its development has since slowed down, it has experienced renewed interest in recent years, because nuclear power appears to be one of the solutions to the high demand for carbon-free energy, necessary for the electrification of uses, for the decarbonization of heat, but also appears to be a stable and sovereign source of energy.

If the historical strategy of the nuclear industry was to gain power to reduce costs, a second, complementary strategy is emerging: that of small modular reactors. In the wake of a previous publication, this intermediate report (in French) offers a summary focused on the technologies of these reactor concepts, which are called small and modular.
